Challenge – Day 4

I’ve managed to keep going with the exercises so far – well apart from today but it’s the first day back at week after the Christmas break, and although it is possible that I could have done them before I left for work this morning – I did get up at 5:30 and take the dog out for his walk in the freezing snow and only just managed to get out of the house on time at 7am in order to drive to work, so I think that weekdays I will need to complete the challenge in the evenings instead of in the mornings…

So far:

  • Situps x 100
  • Pressups x 20
  • Squats x 150
  • Planks 4.5mins

Doesn’t seem like much at the moment, but it’s a start and hopefully the numbers will start racking up by the end of the week.

January Challenge – Day 2

I managed to do 10 press-ups today which I was very impressed with as I didn’t actually think that I would be able to manage one :)

So in total:

  • 3 x 30sec planks
  • 50 squats
  • 50 sit-ups
  • 10 press-ups

My DD thought it was very interesting and insisting on trying to copy…

Not actually been out running this year – however the snow if coming down really thickly and is heavy on the ground and I haven’t got any thermal running tights so I just know I’ll freeze.  I’ve spotted some decent ones from Girls Run Too but for some reason the site wont let me select a size so I can’t actually order them! Will have to try again later…

January Challenge

Related to yesterday’s post, the RW January Challenge is a follow up to a previous thread All I Want for Christmas is a 6 Pack which included completing 2000 press-ups and 2000 sit-ups before Christmas, using this philosophy by the end of January I should achieve the following:

  • Planks 46.5 mins (1.5 mins a day)
  • Squats 1550 (50 a day)
  • Sit-ups 2000 (67 a day as I missed yesterday)
  • Press-ups ….. now I can’t actually do a proper press-up as I have no upper body strength so taking baby steps I’m going to attempt to build up to 10 a day and aim for 200 – 250 by the end of the month

RW New Year Challenge

In the Runners’ World forum goldbeetle has set up the “New Year Challenge” for January which so far include squats and planks.  I quite like the idea of adding a new exercise every day so that by the end of the month there are 31 exercises although I guess this would become quite time consuming, however my own personal challenge will just be to do the RW challenge.

For today this challenge consisted of 50 squats and 1.5 mins of planks – I did get some funny looks from my daughter whilst doing them but day 1 is complete.

In re-reading the thread in the forum I think that these are actually supposed to be done in tandem with the exercises from another thread so I’ll have to look into this and so if I can improve my core further (it needs it….)

New Year, New Start

In September last year I registered for the Edinburgh marathon which takes place 23 May 2010. Now that we are in 2010 I need to start my marathon trainig – It officially starts 1 February according to the 16 week plan that I am following but I will start unofficial training within the next day or so…
